These events are Free for anyone who would like to join. We are led by Erin McCoy, Mindfulness instructor, bilingual educator, mom and founder & director at Share Path Academy. Generally we spend 45 to 1 hour together, but feel free to join whenever for as long as you'd like.
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is paying attention to your present experience. It is being aware of what is happening now, without thinking about the past or the future. Mindfulness also involves acceptance, which means we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judgement, without thinking that the way we think or feel is ‘right’ or ‘wrong.’
Why learn Mindfulness?
Mindfulness helps us learn how to pay close attention to many things. It can also help us calm down when we are angry, sad, frustrated or dealing with any intense emotion. The practices of Mindfulness give us a gap between the experience and the reaction, which often allows for a wiser choice to be made. Our present world requires multi-tasking and it is important to develop the ability to focus on one task, one feeling, or one thought. Current neuroscience research has proven that Mindfulness practices help with greater internal balance, improved resilience and an increase of positive emotions.
