The first Lovejoy's Tea Room opened in San Francisco in the early 1990s.  Originally an antique shop that served a good cup of tea, the customers soon became more interested in the tea and scones than in the antiques, and so the tea room was born.  The name, Lovejoy's was inspired by Jonathan Gash's novels about an antique dealer named Lovejoy. These novels were later used to create the “Lovejoy” BBC television series from the 1970s, which still occasionally airs on PBS.

Lovejoy's Redwood City opened in December of 2016 in a charming historic building on the corner of Main and Stambaugh Streets, and is independently owned and operated by Gina Meyers.  Gina has been a part of the Lovejoy's family for many years, having worked and managed at Lovejoy's SF and Lovey's in Pacifica.  During her time at Lovejoy's, her love of tea service grew and she recognized her desire to bring this lovely ritual to her own community.

All of us at Lovejoy's invite you to sit back and enjoy the ritual of taking tea in a most unique and unpretentious setting, blending together the traditions of tea service with an eclectic, quirky and playful spirit.
